Extreme bike action launches Rockley’s Summer Spectacular
18th July 2019
Bike acrobatics and awe-inspiring fireworks will launch six weeks of sensational summer fun on Thursday 25 July as Rockley’s Summer Spectacular touches down on Poole Quay.
Bringing a fabulous mix of live music, bikes, stalls and street performers, this year’s season of Thursday night spectaculars opens with an evening dedicated to cycling, which will see stars from the Action Sports Tour bring their jaw-dropping show of sensational stunts to Poole Quay.
The free weekly festival sponsored by Rockley Park, is part of Poole’s Wave 105 Summertime in the South and brings a different line up of family fun, top local bands, magicians, fire performers and jugglers to Poole Quay from 7pm before finishing with a firework display over Poole Harbour every Thursday evening throughout the summer holidays until the end of August.
On 25 July it will be eyes to the skies as Poole’s celebration of cycling organised by BCP Council, returns with astonishing cycle stunt displays from the incredible Action Sports Tour at 7.45pm and 9.15pm outside the Thistle Hotel. Anyone tempted by the action can meet the team behind Beryl Bikes, Bournemouth, Christchurch and Poole’s new bike share scheme, take a test ride and have the chance to win some fun prizes! Browse a range of stalls or have your say on where new cycle lanes should be built in Poole.
Cyclists of all ages are also invited to decorate their scooters and bicycles to take part in the popular Bling Your Bike competition. With great prizes on offer, judging will take place at 8.15pm. Alternatively, if you’ve been out of the saddle for a while and are looking for a confidence boost, find out more information on friendly cycle training courses.
Budding performers can brush up on their juggling and plate spinning skills at the circus workshop and take home some top tips. There’s plenty for families to do including children’s rides, inflatable slide and entertainment from street performers plus live music local singer Chris Payn and pop tunes with All Funked Up. The evening finishes with stunning fireworks over Poole’s iconic harbour at 10pm.
Geoffrey Smith, Director of Rockley Park, said: “Rockley’s Summer Spectacular is at the heart of Poole’s fantastic summer events and we are thrilled to play our part in it. It’s a wonderful way to showcase the stunning harbour, quay and the town whilst people are enjoying themselves and making some great memories. The whole event has a massive feel good factor that families really love and is just what the long summer evenings were made for.”
