Lighthouse selected as Finalist in Dorset Tourism Awards
4th October 2018
Lighthouse, Poole’s Centre for the Arts has been named as a finalist in the Business Tourism and Venue category of this year’s Dorset Tourism Awards.
The awards ceremony, at which the 72 finalists will discover whether they have won Gold, Silver or Bronze awards, takes place at Lighthouse on 8 November and will be hosted by BBC Dorset’s Steve Harris with guest speaker Debra Stephenson.
Successful businesses in the Dorset Awards will be fast tracked into the South West Tourism Excellence Awards in February 2019 and possibly invited to represent Dorset in the 2019 National VisitEngland Awards.
Elspeth McBain, Chief Executive for Lighthouse said: “Having hosted the Dorset Tourism Awards at Lighthouse last year, we are absolutely delighted to now be a finalist of this prestigious event and are looking forward to experiencing the evening as a participant. We are really proud of our venue and the people who make it great – our staff, our artists, business users and our audiences, and it is really gratifying that as we celebrate our 40th Birthday we have been recognised in this way.”
The UK’s largest regional arts centre, Lighthouse reopened in October 2016 following an extensive £5.3m refurbishment. Many of its facilities and technical equipment were upgraded during the works, elevating its status as a business destination venue.
In April of this year Lighthouse marked its 40th anniversary and continues to celebrate with a packed series of programmes and events.
