You're Invited to an International Festival of Culture!
4th October 2018
Returning for its second year after a successful launch in 2017, the One World By The Sea festival takes place from Thursday 11th to Saturday 13th October 2018. The free event, organised by members of the International Education Forum (the IEF), celebrates international culture through food, music, dance, performance, and fun activities, in both Bournemouth and Poole, with the support of local community groups.
Rachel Woodward-Carrick, Chair of the working group of the event and Director BU International College says “we’re very excited to be bringing One World By The Sea to Bournemouth and Poole for a second year! We have another great programme of music, dance and other performances with an international theme, and have tried to include something for everyone over the three days. We hope our audiences will enjoy our free events even more than they did last year!”
This year, the itinerary is jam-packed with colourful, cultural and diverse events. On the Thursday the ‘World Discovery Day’ takes place from 11am-3pm at BU International College in Lansdowne and the ‘One World, Many Voices’ music evening will showcase international performers at The Westbourne from 6pm-10pm. On Friday afternoon from 12.30pm-5pm there will be a series of cultural pop-up events on Poole High Street for ‘One World Pooles Together’. And last but not least, the ‘International Family Day’ from 11am-5pm on Saturday 13th October will be held in The Triangle, central Bournemouth, featuring performances, stalls and activities from around the world throughout the day, plus a procession of sambistas!
Guido Schillig, Chairman of the International Education Forum and Managing Director of Anglo-Continental School of English, says “The One World by the Sea Festival is going to be another huge success. We aim to continue celebrating and showcasing our community’s cultural diversity, and promote further international experiences for all”.
