Less Mobile?
Poole is a welcoming place for those of you who are less mobile. Getting around is not a problem as specialised transport facilities are available.
The high street and Poole Quay is all on one level with kerbs designed for the visually impaired. The high street is mostly a pedestrianised area. The Dolphin Shopping Centre has lifts and ramps available. Poole also offers a Shopmobility Scheme which allows users to hire wheelchairs for the day.
All beach car parks are surface car parks. We would recommend Sandbanks or Branksome Chine as they each have one accessible beach wheelchair which can be used in the sea.
Available May to September on a first come, first served basis from 9:30am to 4:30pm at Sandbanks and Branksome Chine beach offices. Users need to pay a fully refundable £50 cash deposit. Please note these cannot be pre-booked. For more details contact Resort Information on 01202 123800.
Between May and September, Sandbanks beach also has Mobi-Mats to help wheelchair users move easily from the promenade onto the sand and closer to the sea.
Both Train and Bus Stations are a level walk from the Dolphin Shopping Centre. Morebus has low floor, easy access buses.
