Nestled on Poole’s picturesque, gloriously photogenic coastline, sits one of the most unique function spaces in the United Kingdom. The Branksome Dene Room is truly one of the south coast’s hidden gems.
Perfectly positioned on the coastline, the Branksome Dene Room is housed in a 1920s Art Deco pavilion-style chalet overlooking the sweeping bay. With panoramic views over to the Isle of Wight in the east and the Jurassic Coast’s Old Harry Rocks in the west, this is the perfect venue for your next event or family celebration. Whether you wish to use the space for personal, social gatherings or as an alternative professional workspace for a morning or evening, the Branksome Dene Room can cater for all your social requirements.
Built on the site of the old coastguard station, the Branksome Dene Room was originally a tea house and today remains evocative of the roaring twenties. The room is nestled in one of the area’s distinctive denes – a narrow, wooded ravine that’s unique to this stretch of the coast. Just metres from the seafront, your guests are merely steps away from golden, sandy beaches. Whether it’s a beautiful summer’s morning or a chilly and brisk winter’s afternoon, your day can only be improved relative to your distance to this glorious view and the luscious golden sandy beaches.
The Branksome Dene Room is equipped with 10 tables and 50 chairs and can hold up to 50 people, plus an extra 30 outside on the patio, which is ideal for summer BBQs. If you are a business professional or recruiter, perhaps you wish to host interviews in an unobtrusive, secluded environment where candidates may feel more at ease than in the traditionally busy and bustling office space. Hire the venue for the morning for your current team and allow them to express their ideas in a different environment, with access to a stunning view and the cool sea breeze to bring forward some inspiration and new, exciting ideas.
Maybe you wish to use the venue for a party to celebrate a personal achievement, or just a child’s birthday. Cancellations or changes to the booking will incur a 20% administration charge, no refunds will be made if less than one month's notice is given when cancelling a booking.

Whatever the event, Branksome Dene Room is a stunning location overlooking the beach with amazing views of the sea to Old Harry Rocks.
Branksome Dene Room is perfect for weddings, receptions and functions.
Licensed to perform marriage and civil partnership ceremonies, this affordable venue can accommodate up to 50 seated guests for an intimate and personal celebration.
It is booked on a room only basis to host weddings, wedding receptions or both the wedding and reception. This allows you the flexibility to dress the venue as simply or as lavishly as you desire in your own style or theme.
After the ceremony, guests can make their way to the patio area to celebrate with drinks and canapés whilst you and your wedding party have direct access to the beach to have your special photos taken.
If you’re staying on to host your reception here too, the patio is an ideal location to set up a bar, hog roast or BBQ. A marquee can also be erected in front of the building to accommodate additional evening guests.
If you would like to carry out a ‘licensable activity’ in the Branksome Dene Room you must contact Environmental Services for a Temporary event notice (TEN).

When applying for a temporary event notice, please note you must vacate the building by 10.30pm or 12am (midnight), depending on your booking.
There are a limited number of licences available each year, we therefore recommend applying as soon as you book your event. Regrettably, the allocation of licences for 2024 has already been utilised and no further applications can be considered.
If you are planning to have a gazebo, marquee or tent on the patio area as part of your event, you will need to complete a risk assessment and return it to branksomedeneroom@bcpcouncil.gov.uk at least days 90 days prior to the commencement of the booking.

There are no cooking facilities, but there are power points in the food preparation area.
The consumption of alcohol is permitted at the venue if it is provided free of charge to your guests. Alternatively, your guests may bring their own alcohol. Please note, the selling of alcohol is strictly prohibited unless you, or your provider, have been granted a TEN (Temporary Even Notice) licence to sell alcohol. Please click here for more details.
There is no coach parking, but a 20-to-30-seater coach can set down and pick up at the venue.
