Surf Life Saving National Championships
About
Branksome Chine Surf Life Saving Club has been invited by Surf Life Saving GB to host the SLSGB Surf Life Saving Championships for 2019 and now 2022.
The National Championships regularly attracts over 1500 competitors across age groups ranging from 8-80 and represents a super opportunity for Branksome club and the wider community.
As host club, Branksome Chine will be welcoming Surf Life Saving clubs from all around the UK to come together and celebrate the principles of this exhilarating sport. The Championships are a culmination of training throughout the year – perfecting rescue techniques, learning about water safety, team work, strengthening body and mind and for those with the competitive spirit a chance to fight it out amongst the best in the country.
The event schedule will be roughly as follows :
National Masters Surf Life Saving Championships Beach & Water Competition ( 40+) August 13 - August 14
National IRB Championships Small craft rescue Competition (18+) August 15
National Youth Surf Life Saving Championships August 16 - August 17
The essence of Branksome Chine Surf Life Saving Club (BCSLSC) has always been about ensuring safety for the local community in the sea, whether through promoting public awareness of how to use the sea safely, actively patrolling the local beaches or through the development of club membership and surf life-saving sports training and competitions.
BCSLSC is a voluntary organisation (registered charity) that started in 1990 and now has circa 250 members with ages ranging from 8 to 80, the club operates solely on donations and grants and all members provide their time to the Club and Community for free.
The Club has always prioritised an inclusive approach to all activities, with the skills learned by members and course attendants providing valuable life skills that can be carried across other personal and professional activity.
