Poole at War - VE/VJ Day
About
Poole played a key role during the war, the flying boats connecting us the world, Dunkirk small boats, raiding parties, D Day trials and being one of the largest embarkation points for D Day itself. Bring together information and images of the time. The Society for Poole is organising an exhibition on the Quay which commemorates the 75+1 anniversary of the end of the war and depicts some of the stories of the town.
From 8th May we aim to erect information boards down the High Street and on the 15th August the Quay will be closed, military vehicles, vintage cars, a funfair, period music and further images and details of the extraordinary role the town and it’s people played during the war.
We are actively seeking owners of military vehicles and vintage cars of the 40’s and re enactment teams to join us and contact Mike Pearce at Chairman@societyforpoole.org
We are looking for gold (£1,000), silver (£500) and bronze (£250) sponsors to contribute to the costs of closing the Quay, security and medical teams etc and would be grateful if you could consider supporting this event for the people of Poole. Sponsors will be recognised on all promotional materials, boards and the website.
If you are able to support us that would be fantastic and I look forward to hearing from you, if not I hope you will be able to attend and enjoy the day.
