Celebrate World Chimpanzee Day at Monkey World!

A family group of chimpanzees relaxing, playing and grooming on a platform at monkey world

About

Over the weekend of the 33rd anniversary of the first chimps arriving at Monkey World, learn about their rescues and journey to the park, and their plight in the wild, with talks, stalls and trails!

As well as all of this, there will be exclusive talks on social media and at the park about our wonderful chimps! Follow signs on the day to find all the activities!

The chimpanzees live in four groups, with the majority rescued and rehabilitated into families for the first time since being stolen from the wild as infants.
Combining fun with conservation and animal education, half-hourly talks at the park explain all about man's closest living relative. Visitors can see the stars of TV's 'Monkey Life', then 'monkey around' in the south's largest Great Ape play area for children with its huge variety of swings, slides, and climbing frames. The children's Activity Centre will also be open throughout the weekend, where kids can make a present for the primates, and create their own sand art to take home with them!

For those planning multiple visits over the summer, an adoption pass is a great way to make the pennies go further- as well as helping fund future rescue and rehabilitation work. For just £25 for a child, the adoptive parent will receive a certificate, photo, 3 newsletters a year and entry pass to the park for a whole year!
