The course which took place from 22 January - 2 February 2011 is the second such coaching course to run out in Oman and comes following the success of the 2010 Olympic Solidarity funded ISAF level 1 Technical Course.During January 2011 Rockley International Trainer Richard Percy also completed the first in a series of Turkey Yachting Federation (TYF) Dinghy Instructor Courses in Turkey, Cesme - both of these courses now mark the start of a new era of nationally recognised sail training within Oman and Turkey.ISAF appointed Trainer Tom Wilson said of the Omani candidates; "Having a group of individuals that are all keen to learn and assimilate information and advice passed on to them from more than one coach is wonderful."The Omani sailors all worked very hard to develop their own styles of coaching and over the ten days we spent with them have shown a huge increase in not only coaching skills but also personal technical sailing skills. If this level of dedication is upheld then there is no end to the achievements that they can accomplish."Eleven candidates, from a range of different backgrounds attended the ten- day course, the majority of whom will be joining Mohammed Al Balushi, (recently qualified Oman Sail Senior Instructor) at Oman Sails' new centre which opens this week at Musannah, where the 2010 Asian Beach Games were held. The Oman Sail project has come on a long way since it started and the new wave of Rockley International trained coaches are now ready to help expand the project and introduce more people to the sport of sailing within Oman.Neil Coxon, Director of Training at Oman Sail, said; "Having our Instructors at Oman Sail trained to internationally recognised standards means a great deal to us."Oman Sail has a strong relationship with the Ministry of Sport Affairs in Oman (The ISAF Member National Authority) and as such is keen to maintain the highest level of training possible. With ISAF Connect to Sailing Partner Rockley International and the ISAF appointed Trainers we have been able to benefit from the wide range of expertise and experience that they provide".For more information on Rockley International please visit www.rockleyinternational.com or contact Richard Percy on richardpercy@rockley.org or telephone +44 (0) 1202 677272

Fishy Fishy Restaurant to launch cookbook in Summer 2011 21 Feb 2011

Dermot O'Leary and friends James Ginzler and Paul Shovlin have signed a deal with New Holland Publishers to publish their debut cook book, inspired by their two Fishy Fishy seafood brasseries.  Summer 2011 will see the Fishy Fishy cookbook hit the shelves, following the success of the sustainable fish restaurants in Brighton and Poole which provide tasty menus of fresh, local, seasonal seafood and produce.  The Fishy Fishy specials board and quarterly menu changes have become a huge hit with customers keen to eat only the freshest fish, and to try a range of choices and tastes from trusted Channel Cod to more unusual catches such as Pollack and Gurnard depending on when they are in season.  Dermot said; "We're often asked for our recipes by customers so we thought it would be good to share them, as well as our passion for fish, all in one book. It includes all the information you need to help you cook sustainably at home as well as providing essential how to's, tips and guides to preparing fish to get the best out of them. The recipes are inspired by what is available around the British coast, across the seasons, including well known and lesser well known fish. Essentially it's the book, the three of us would have liked to have been written before we started Fishy Fishy so we hope it's as helpful and as tasty as we've set out to make it."  The cookbook showcases over 90 recipes created in conjunction with Fishy Fishy chef, Loz Talent, fish facts and plenty of advice on how to cook fish and shellfish so it's a great addition to any fish lover's kitchen.
