Harbar Big Wheel Poster 2017A chance to see the local sights as you’ve never seen them before, the amazing Poole Harbour BIG Wheel is set to open this month in Harbourside Park as the start of Poole Maritime Festival and the free Seven Seas family festival.

Also opening is The HarBar, a shipping container converted into a bar alongside the BIG Wheel attraction.

The 35-metre high Poole Harbour BIG Wheel opens on Friday 28 April with rides available seven days a week for four weeks. It culminates in the free family fun of the Seven Seas Festival with its celebration of the world’s food, music and culture, running for three days and two nights from 19 to 21 May.

“We wanted to create something really special for the people of Poole and visitors to the area to give an early taste of what can be expected during the main festival,” says Ben Dyas, Seven Seas Festival director.

The Poole Harbour BIG Wheel is bound to be an instant hit with its unique perspective on the historic town, bustling quay and the breathtaking beauty of the harbour. There’s no wait for a lift to take riders to the top, visitors are shown straight to a gondola where they will be able to enjoy 360° views of beautiful Poole Harbour.

The 144-rider wheel will be positioned next to the Harbourside car park and on a clear day will offer views of up to ten miles away – bringing Corfe Castle well within sight and as far as the nature reserve at Studland, as well as Sandbanks and wonderful new views of Brownsea Island and Poole itself.

 ADULT £5
CHILD (Up to 1.4m height) £4
 CONCESSIONS £4
 FAMILY (2 Adults + 2 children or 1 adult plus 3 children) £15
VIP WHEEL EXPERIENCE (5 adults & 5 glasses of Prosseco) £38

The Seven Seas Festival promises a weekend of family-friendly international food, music and culture in partnership with Poole Maritime Festival, bringing a world of seafaring sounds, tastes and traditions to Harbourside Park.

The site will be divided into micro-sites, each representing one of the seven seas and programmed with the music, food and culture of that region. At the heart of the festival is the Maritime Event Arena where every aspect of seafaring life in Poole is represented, from the festival’s four partner charities – RNLI, Julia’s House, Diverse Abilities and Greenpeace – to performances by local schools, circus and fire shows and even the odd sea shanty.

For the youngest visitors there’s the Ikle eskimos activities arena and the Harry Rocks main stage area will host live music in the evening from iconic tribute bands and crowd-pleasing local acts.

The Poole Harbour BIG Wheel will operate daily, noon-8pm (Sun-Thurs), 10am-10pm (Fri, Sat).
 Wheel is OPEN 28th APRIL 2017 - 21st May 2017.
